Agreed, brother: quietly, nearly a perfect movie, maybe my favorite. Weird though how it gets marketed as a comedy. Though it has a light touch and parts are funny, it's a serious drama. Though the 'plot' is quite simple, what it's 'about' defies summary. It's about family, it's about coming home, it's about faith, it's about a lot of things. It's a small miracle.

The hard thing about getting a "new" guy into NASCAR is sponsorship. With a name like Petty or Earnhardt your guaranteed a sponsor. Some company will take a risk on you b/c they know you will do a good job of selling their product. Dale Jr. came into NASCAR with the #1 sponsor in the garage (Budweiser). I totally agree. Leo's right hand technique is unique, unmistakable. It is virtually impossible to duplicate, even with TAB. IMO, there is no other acoustic fingerpicker who can recreate Leo's sound.

Amy was flawless in that movie. I was upset when she didn't win. But at least she was nominated. This scene was fantastic but you really need to see the rest of the film to appreciate what's happening here. The relentlessly dogged positivity and adorability of her character was designed to be comic, admirable, tragic, and unwittingly profound but could easily have veered into an unbelievably cartoony pathos but Amy balanced it perfectly.
